PURPOSE: To produce the subject material capable of being readily molded into complicated molded products and having the strength and the elastic modulus both oriented in a direction by flowing a suspension containing the powder of a thermoplastic resin and a short-fibrous reinforcing material in a specific passage to orient the short-fibrous reinforcing material in a direction.
CONSTITUTION: When a stamping material is produced by a wet dispersion method, a suspension containing the powder of a thermoplastic resin and a short-fibrous reinforcing material (preferably carbon fibers or glass fibers) is passed through a passage having projections regularly disposed in the width direction of the flow of the suspension to align the short-fibrous reinforcing material in a direction. Projections having shapes capable of avoiding the clogging and non-uniform flow of the short-fibrous reinforcing material, such as streamline-shaped, pyramid-shaped, column-shaped, triangle pole-shaped, semi- spherical or groove-shaped (parallel to the flow of the suspension) projections are preferable as the projections. The projections are preferably disposed in an interval long 1/5 to 15 times the length of the short-fibrous reinforcing material.
