Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a titled steel material simply, easily and inexpensively, by heating the low carbon steel material which contains Si, Mn, Al and is worked approximately to the sectional shapes and sizes of products to temps. higher than the AC3 point and hot rolling the same at above the specific reduction of area then hardening and tempering the material.

CONSTITUTION: The steel material which consists, by wt%, of <0.15 C, 0.1W 1.0% Si, 0.4W2.0% Mn, 0.01W0.10% Al, and consists of the balance substantially Fe and is beforehand worked approximately to the sectional shapes and sizes of products is used as a blank material. Such blank material is heated to temps. higher than the AC3 point and lower than the temp. at which the formation of coarse grains of austenite crystal initiates. The heated steel is hot-rolled so as to attain ≥0.015 reduction of area R determined by the equation (S1 is the area of the section assuming a right angle to the main rolling direction prior to the hot rolling, S2 is the similar area after the hot rolling). Immediately after the hot rolling, the material is hardened then tempered at temps. below the AC1 point.
