PURPOSE: To provide a production method of steel having a ruggedness pattern, in which deep/wide ruggedness pattern is easily stamped, not generating whisker, being at a low cost as well as excellent in productivity.
CONSTITUTION: In producing the steel, in which ruggedness pattern is stamped/ formed on the side face in the width direction of plate stock 1, with restraining an upper face 15/lower face 16 of in the width direction of plate stock 1 by an upper roll 21/lower roll 22 and both sides of plate stock by a left roll 3/right roll 4, the plate stock is cold rolled by four side rolling. At least one out of a left roll 3/right roll 4 has a marking face 31 of ruggedness like, on the side face to form ruggedness pattern of the plate stock, further at its side end part, the notched part 111 for surplus material relief at stamping is provided.
