Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having stereoregular syndiotactic structure on an industrial scale at a low cost while reducing the catalyst cost by polymerizing styrene in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a specific Ti compound, methylalumoxane and alumoxanes. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer having high stereoregularity can be produced by polymerizing styrene in the presence of a catalyst produced by compounding (A) a Ti compound of formula I (X<1> to X<4> are each H, 1-20C alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, halogen, etc.) (e.g. titanium tetraethoxide), (B) a methylalumoxane of formula II (Me is methyl: 1<=n<=40) or formula III and (C) an alumoxane of formula IV (R is 2-10C alkyl) and/or formula V (e.g. isobutylalumoxane).
