PURPOSE: To provide a method for obtaining a highly stereospecific poly α-olefin in a high yield.
CONSTITUTION: A method for producing a stereospecific polyolefin is characterized by using a catalyst system comprising (A) a solid catalyst component, (B) the organic compound of an IA, IIA, IIB, IIIB or IVB group metal in the periodic table, and (C) an electron-donating compound, the component A being obtained by (i) reacting a homogeneous solution containing (i-1) at least one of metal magnesium, its hydroxylated organic compound and its oxygen- containing organic compound and (i-2) the oxygen-containing organic compound of titanium and/or (i-3) the oxygen-containing organic compound of aluminum with (ii) an aluminum halide, drying (iii) the obtained solid product until a main peak appearing at a position near to 2θ=6.5° in an X-ray spectrum becomes ≤2 in the relative strength ratio with a peak near to the 2θ=7.7°, and subsequently reacting the dried product with (iv) an electron-donating compound and (v) a titanium halide compound.
