Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition suitable to a raw material for household electric applicances, etc., having excellent balance of physical properties such as impact strength, luster and rigidity, etc., by using a styrenic monomer solution containing a specific rubber component as a raw material and performing two-step polymerization with a specific method. CONSTITUTION:At first, a styrenic monomer containing 5-20wt.% rubber component comprising a styrene-butadiene-based block polymeric rubber containing 20-50wt.% styrene is fed to a first polymerization zone and subjected to initial polymerization to attain 10-30% conversion. Next, a resultant initial polymerized solution is fed to a second polymerization zone and conversion is increased to 30-70% and simultaneously phase transition is performed, then said system is polymerized so as to form particles having 0.2-1.5mum rubber particle diameter and <=2.5 ratio of area-averaged rubber particle diameter/number-averaged rubber particle diameter : Ds/Dn to afford the aimed resin composition. Besides, as th rubber component, co-using of a styrene-butadiene-based polymeric rubber and a polybutadiene rubber is preferable.
