PURPOSE: To obtain a sulfone useful as a synthetic intermediate for a reactive dye used for dyeing fiber esp. natural/regenerated cellulose fibers by substituting a group of a specific sulfone with a (substituted) anilino group or by adding a specific (substituted) aniline to a specific sulfone.
CONSTITUTION: This compound of formula III (Z is -CH=CH2, CH2-CH2-CSO3H, -CH2-CH2-OCOCH3, -CH2-CH2-OH or the like) is obtained by substituting X of a compound of (A) formula X-(CH2-CH2-O)m-(CH2)n-SO2-CH2-CH2OH [X is Cl, Br, OCO-(CH2)0 to 3-CH3, O-CO-C6H5; (m) 0 or 1; and (n) is 2 to 4] with a group of (B) formula I (Ar is a phenyl or naphthyl; R1 is H or an 1-4C alkyl, Cl, Br, 1-4C alkoxy, COOH, acylamino e.g. acetamino, SO2-alkylene-OH; and (p) 0 to 2) or by adding a compound of (C) formula II to a compound of (D) formula CH2=CH-SO2-(CH2)3-OH.
