PURPOSE: To form the title superconductor at the surface layer part of a substrate by forming a thermally sprayed layer contg. a group IIIa element and a group IIa element on the surface of the long-sized substrate with the surface layer part consisting of copper, and heat-treating the material in the presence of oxygen.
CONSTITUTION: A long-sized metallic pipe 2, at least the surface layer part of which is composed of copper, is arranged in a reaction vessel 1, and the pipe 2 is sent in the direction B while being rotated in the direction A. The nozzle part of a thermal spraying gun 3 is provided in the vicinity of the metallic pipe 2, and the alloy or raw material contg. a group IIIa element (A) of the periodic table such as Sc, Y, and La and a group IIa element (B) such as Be, Sr, and Ba is thermally sprayed on the surface of the metallic pipe 2 to form a raw superconductive material layer 2a. Oxygen is then supplied from an oxygen supply means 4 and heated by a heating means, and a superconductor 2c (A-B-Cu-O) is formed between the Cu part 2b of the metallic pipe 2 and the raw superconductive material layer 2a.
