Abstract:
The present invention relates to a supramolecular polymer comprising quadruple hydrogen bonding units 4H within the polymer backbone, said supramolecular polymer being obtainable by reacting a monomeric unit (a) having the structure 4H* - (F i ) r (IV) and a macromonomeric unit (b) having the structure P-(F i ) s , wherein the monomeric unit (a) is represented by formula (VIIa) or (VIIb), and tautomers and/or enantiomers thereof: wherein 4H* represents a precursor of the structural element 4H; in formula (IV), F i represents a reactive group linked to the 4H*-unit; r = 2, so that formula (IV) is represented by F 1 -4H*-F 1 or by F 1 -4H*-F 2 ; the 4H*-unit is connected to a reactive group (F 1 ) via R1 and to a reactive group (F 1 ) or (F 2 ) via R3, whereas R2 is a random side chain or a hydrogen atom; P represents a polymer chain; in formula (V), F i represents a complementary reactive group in the macromonomeric unit (b) that is complementary reactive with another F i of monomeric unit (a); and s = 2 - 6.
