Title:
PRODUCTION OF SURGICAL NEEDLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP07256379
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To essentially eliminate manual handling and to enable efficient production not requiring polishing by continuous feeding respective semi-finished needles into coining dies having cavities and casting the respective semi-finished needles in the respective coining dies.

CONSTITUTION: Needle blanks or wire blanks are cut from one roll of wire 6 and are placed on a carrier strip 21. This carrier strip 21 and the needle 6 are passed and moved through a series of the coining dies and at least one trimming die. The first coining die is an open coining die and ≥1 piece of the continuous coining dies are closed coining dies. These semi-finished needles or wire members are arbitrarily curved and are heat treated and are then electrochemically treated, as a result of which the needles or wire members having cutting edges are generated without the exertion of an adverse influence on point ductility.
