Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a temperature-sensitive fibrous structure by nearly uniformly exhausting microcapsules enclosing a thermochromic material in a fibrous substrate.

CONSTITUTION: This method for producing a temperature-sensitive fibrous structure is characterized by adding microcapsules enclosing a thermochromic material to a fibrous substrate consisting essentially of cellulosic fiber i.e., adding the microcapsules, a cationic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant to a bath at ≤90°C, then adding an exhaustion property imparting agent at pH ≤7, thereby exhausting the microcapsules from the bath into the fibrous substrate, further as necessary, applying a urethane-based resin and/or an ultraviolet ray absorber thereto for improving the fastness to washing and/or color fastness to light.
