PURPOSE: To provide the process for production which can easily produce the tensile coil spring for orthodontics made of a shape memory alloy wire having initial tension.

CONSTITUTION: A coil body 12 formed by space winding the shape memory alloy wire 11 at desired pitch intervals is once molded in the case of production of the tensile coil spring for orthodontics having superelasticity from the shape memory alloy wire 11. After the coil body 12 is heat-treated, the coil base 12 is again wound in tight contact in a direction B reverse from the space winding direction A to apply the twist necessary for the initial tension on the shape memory alloy wire 11 itself, by which the tensile coil spring for orthodontics having the initial tension is produced.
