To provide a method for producing terephthalic acid capable of unifying gases for a separator and for drying used for a solid-liquid separator and a dryer, simplifying the constitution of an apparatus, using an exhaust gas of process, reducing a cost, and preventing concentration of impurity and the corrosion of the apparatus.
This method comprises an oxidation reaction process for oxidizing paraxylene in a liquid phase by an oxidation reactor 1 to form terephthalic acid, a solid-liquid separation process for subjecting formed crystalline terephthalic acid to solid-liquid separation by a solid-liquid separator 5 and a drying process for drying terephthalic acid separated by the solid-liquid separator 5 by a dryer 6, supplies at least a part of an oxidation exhaust gas discharged from the oxidation reactor 1 from a first gas feed route 15 to the dryer 6, supplies an exhaust gas of the dryer 6 from a second gas feed route 21 to the solid-liquid separator 5 and taking out an exhaust gas generated in the solid-liquid separator 5 from a gas takeout route L9.
