Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as a promoter of metallocene catalyst for ethylene or propylene polymerization and an electrolyte for electrolytic capacitors from tertiary ammonium tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A tertiary ammonium tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate of formula I (R1 to R3 are each a 1-4C alkyl or phenyl) is reacted with (B) a tetraalkylonium hydroxide of formula II without a solvent or in a solvent such as water or an alcohol, preferably at a room temperature for 0.5-1hr and the produced tertiary amine is distilled away to provide the objective compound of formula III.
