Abstract:

To produce a thermal transfer image receiving material reduced in surface roughness on the side of its image receiving layer and capable of obtaining a sharp image free from image irregularity.

In a method for producing a thermal transfer image receiving material consisting of a sheet like base material 4 and the films extruded to be laminated on both surfaces of the sheet like base material 4, the resin filter 5 extruded from a die 1 on the side of the surface 4B on which an image receiving layer is formed of the surface of the base material 4 having a resin applied to the rear surface 4A thereof is bonded to the sheet base material 4 under pressure in a flowable state by an elastic roller 2 and a cooling roller 3. At a time of pressure bonding, the surface temp. of the elastic roller 2 is set to Te (°C)>Tg-10 (°C) (wherein Te is the surface temp. of the elastic roller and Tg is the glass transition temp. of the resin applied to the rear surface 4A).
