Abstract:

To provide a method for economically producing thermally stable polyoxymethylene copolymers.

This method is to produce polyoxymethylene copolymers with a low content of thermally unstable end groups and comprises polymerizing 1,3,5-trioxane with at least one kind of a cyclic ether and an acetal comonomer in the presence of a formaldehyde dialkyl acetal with the assistance of a strong protonic acid or a Lewis acid initiator. In the above method, the initiator is dissolved in the formaldehyde dialkyl acetal before introducing the initiator into the 1,3,5-trioxane and the comonomers.
