PURPOSE: To obtain a thermoplastic resin composition, reinforced with potassium titanate fiber and excellent in mechanical strength by adding the potassium titanate fiber to a thermoplastic resin in a molten state and melt kneading the resultant mixture under conditions without solidifying a part of the thermoplastic resin just after the addition thereof.
CONSTITUTION: This method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition is to add about 5-60wt.% potassium titanate fiber to a thermoplastic resin (a polyamide, a polyester, a polycarbonate, etc.) in a molten state and then melt knead the resultant mixture. When the thermoplastic resin is solidified just after adding the potassium titanate fiber thereto, the breakage of the potassium titanate fiber is caused in melt kneading to deteriorate the mechanical strength of the resin composition. Thereby, the melt kneading is carried out under conditions without solidifying a part of the thermoplastic resin.
