Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermosetting one-component plyurethane-polyurea system which is stable at room temperature but cured rapidly by raising the temperature, by mixing an individual specified polyisocyanate composition, a polyol and/or a polyamine at a fixed temperature.

CONSTITUTION: (I) (A) A polyisocyanate composition which is suspended to have an excessive reactive NCO group per NCO=reactive group in a polyol having molecular wt. of 62 to 8000, an aromatic polyamine having molecular wt. of 108 to 8000 or an aliphatic polyamine having molecular wt. of 400 to 8000 and (B) a polyol and/or polyamine mixture providing the balance of stoichiometrically required OH and NH2 equivalent number are separately prepared. (II) Components (A) and (B) are mixed at a temperature lower than the thickening temperature of the final reaction mixture immediately before the intended use to form the objective reactive polyurthane-polyurea composition.
