Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thick steel pipe round column for building capable of attaining high strength and a low yield ratio without deteriorating its economical efficiency and productivity and furthermore capable of uniformizing its material.
SOLUTION: A steel contg., by weight, 0.06 to 0.17% C, 0.06 to 0.5% Si, 0.5 to 1.6% Mn, ≤0.015% P, ≤0.005% S, 0.1 to 0.25% Mo, 0.01 to 0.02% Ti, 0.005 to 0.002% B, ≤0.07% Al and ≤0.004% N is rolled, and the steel plate is heated to the temp. range of 900 to 1,000°C, ant its bending is finished in the temp. range of the Ar3 point or above to produce the thick steel pipe round column.
