Title:
PRODUCTION OF THIN METAL STRIP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5554251
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To widen the width of flow on the way of a molten metal flow table and enable metal thin plate of an arbitrary width to be readily obtained by leading the molten metal flowing down from a nozzle to a cooling roller by way of the flow table.

CONSTITUTION: The stopper of a crucible 6 heated by a heater 8 is pulled up to let molten metal 11 fall onto a molten metal table 4 through a hole 7. Then, the flow of inert gas is blown to the molten metal 11 from a nozzle 10 on the way of flow of the molten metal 11 on the molten metal table 4 being heated with a heater 5 to a range of 700W1200°C depending upon the kinds of the molten metal. As a result, the molten metal 11 is expanded in the direction rectangular to the flow direction and assumes extremely thin curtain form of an arbitrary width owing to the balance between surface tension and blowing pressure. This molten metal is then supplied onto the peripheral surface of a cooling rotary roll 3 and is thereby cooled, thus becoming a thin metal strip 12 of an arbitrary width.
