PURPOSE: To obtain a three-dimensionally crosslinked polymer by admixing a specific organic solvent to a mixture of an organic siloxane monomer and a copolymerizable monomer and polymerizing them, where the produced polymer is suitable for contact lenses and artificial cornea of eye because it has excellent oxygen permeability, staining resistance and deformation recovery.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A compound of formula I [X is a substituent bearing a radically polymerizable unsaturated group; Z is X, a 1-10C alkyl, a 1-12C halogenoalkyl, trimethylsiloxy; Y comprises structural units of formula II (R5, R6 are each a 1-12C hydrocarbon group), formula III (R7, R8 are each R5, an F-substituted hydrocarbon group and at least the either one is an F-substituted hydrocarbon group) and formula IV (R9, R10 are each R5, vinyl, styryl, allyl and at least the either one is vinyl, styryl, allyl) and their existing numbers are each 7-300, 0-300 and 0-120, respectively] alone or mixed with a monomer copolymerizable with the compound of formula I A is mixed with (B) an organic solvent having an SP value of 8 (cal/cm3)1/2 and the mixture is polymerized to give the objective polymer.
