Title:
PRODUCTION OF TILE CARPET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01148882
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain tile carpets efficiently and economically by laminating hot melt resin composition to form the lining layer, then bringing the base carpet into contact with the melted lining layer having the front and back surfaces heated at different temperatures for lamination.

CONSTITUTION: A hot melt resin composition is laminated on the resin-peelable endless belt 11 to form the backing layer 13. Then, the layer 13 is heated so that the front surface is melted, while the back face is kept solid by contacting with the belt which has been cooled down when it has passed through the cooling zone 18. The carpet base 14 is overlapped on the melted surface and they are bonded, then the endless belt is peeled off to transfer the backing or lining layer 13 to the carpet base 14. The product is cut into appropriate shapes to produce the subject tile carpets without a large scale of installation. This process can give tile carpets without thermal shrinkage, melting damage or deformation, even when the backing layer is laminated thick.
