PURPOSE: To improve corrosion resistance and fitness and to reduce cost by coating a mixture composed of a powder material and binder to the longitudinal end of a timepiece band, and moving an optothermal source while changing the speed thereof then moving the torch in the opposite side thereby welding the end.
CONSTITUTION: The band 19 is set to a welding jig 18 and the mixture 21 composed of the powder material and binder is coated on a point 14 at the case side end of the band 19. Welding is then started from a guide plate a16 side and a torch 20 is moved at the torch speed exceeding the weldable speed from the mid-way in the transverse direction of the band so as to be passed along a guide plate b17; thereafter the moving direction of the torch 20 is made opposite and welding is executed at the initial torch speed. The once welded point is hardly meltable in this stage; therefore, the shrinkage at the transverse end is prevented. The mixture 21 composed of the powder material and binder is coated at the longitudinal end of the band in order to increase the density at said end and to obtain stable quantity.
