To provide a method for producing a tissue-like protein molded product by plasticizing and melting a material consisting mainly of a vegetable protein and subsequently injecting the melted material into a mold under a vacuum state, capable of producing the tissue-like protein molded product having a large size and a high density.
This method for producing a tissue-like protein molded product comprises feeding a material consisting mainly of a vegetable protein, further containing starch, a moisture-retaining agent and a nucleating agent in amounts of 0-60 wt.%, 0-70 wt.% and 0-3 wt.%, respectively, based on the amount of crude protein in the material and having a water content of 5-30% into an injection device 11, plasticizing and melting the fed material at a temperature of 120-180°C, and subsequently injecting the plasticized and melted material into a space on the insides of inner walls 4 having many holes 3 and disposed on the inside of a mold 1 through chambers 5 in a state that the inside of the mold 1 is maintained in vacuo.
