PURPOSE: To obtain the compound which is useful as an oxidation inhibitor of polyolefin in a high purity and a high yield by reacting a compound having 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpyperidine group with formaldehyde and formic acid in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Compounds having groups expressed by formula I is reacted with the mixture of formaldehyde and formic acid at a molar ratio of NH group in pyperidine of formula I and formalhyde and formic acid of 1:1:1-1:2:2, preferably 1:1:1-1:1.2:1.2, at 80-150°C, preferably 90-130°C, while separating the produced water and water in reagents by azeotropic distillation, to obtain the compounds having the groups of formula II. Without isolation of the starting material obtained by reacting cyanur chloride with 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl amine, the reacting mixture itself is usable.
