Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a triisocyanate free from any mechanical problem, by phosgenation of the corresponding triamine under specific conditions without the need of using a large quantity of solvent.
SOLUTION: In obtaining this compound of formula I [R is a 1-22C (cyclic) aliphatic hydrocarbon], (A) a triamine of formula II, present in the form of vapor and heated to 200-600°C is continuously reacted with (B) phosgene heated to 200-600°C in a tubular reaction chamber heated to 200-600°C and free from any mobile parts while maintaining the flow in the chamber at ≥3m/s, and a gaseous mixture leaving continuously from the reaction chamber is cooled with an inert cooling medium kept at a temperature higher than the decomposition temperature of carbamic acid chloride corresponding to the component A and the triisocyanate solution of the solvent is recovered and the objective compound is then recovered from the solution. The component A is pref. 1,8- diamino-4-(aminomethyl)-octane.
