To provide a method for producing trioxane useful as a raw material for producing a polyoxymethylene copolymer, in a high initial rate of production and without forming a byproduct by using a specific solid acid catalyst having a high mechanical strength.
This method for producing trioxane is to make a contact of (A) formaldehyde with (B) a solid acid catalyst of a polyorganosiloxane having a sulfonic acid group (preferably contains 0.01-10mmol/g amount of sulfonic acid) and containing a skeleton expressed by the formula (R is a functional group containing sulfonic group) e.g. at 70-150°C. Further, since the component B is a solid, the reaction is carried out by using a flow type, and in such case the reaction is performed by using 1-1000g feeding amount of the aqueous solution of the component A based on 1g component B.
