Title:
PRODUCTION OF TRIPHENYLAMINE USING NITROGEN TRIHALIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3235661
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a triphenylamine that is useful as a charge-transporting material that is included in the electrophotographic photoreceptor by lithiating a specific halogen compound and allowing the lithiated product to react with a nitrogen trihalide.
SOLUTION: A halogen compound of formula I [R7 and R8 are H, methyl; Ar7 and Ar8 are each a (substituted) phenyl; X is a halogen], suitably 4- chloro-4'-(N,N-ditolyl-amino) stilbene, is lithiated, then allowed to react with a nitrogen trihalide (suitably nitrogen trichloride, nitrogen trifuloride or nitrogen tribromide) to give a compound of formula II [Ar1 to Ar6 are each a (substituted) phenyl; R1 to R6 are each H, methyl], suitably 4,4',4"-tris[4-(N,N- ditolylamine)styryl]triphenylamine.
