PURPOSE: To obtain the compd. which has excellent stability and is useful as a chelating agent and extracting agent by bringing sodium diester phosphite into reaction with tetramethyl diphosphonate, making the product acidic and acting a specific salt on the resulted compd.
CONSTITUTION: (B) The sodium diester phosphite of formula II (R is 4 to 20C alkyl) is brought into reaction with (A) the tetramethyl diphosphonate of formula I (A is 3C alkenylene) and the product is made acidic, by which the tetramethyl dialkyl ester triphosphate of formula IV bonded to the P atom of the group expressed by formula III is obtd. (C) the Salt MY (M is a metal, ammonia cation; Y is halogen, acid anion) is allowed to act on the resulting component of formula IV, by which the objective component expressed by formula V (A' is the tervalent group derived from A) is obtd.
