Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain production of tropane alkaloid capable of efficiently mass- producing tropane alkaloid, especially scopolamine.
CONSTITUTION: The tropane alkaloid is produced by planting an adventitious root or a capillary root having ability capable of producing tropane alkaloid in a culture tank, proliferating the root in a short period by a liquid culture accompanied by stirring, pulling out the liquid culture in a period when the root is sufficiently proliferated, then carrying out vapor phase culture in the same culture tank and producing tropane alkaloid for a long period in a state where the root is kept in high density.
