Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce an ultrafine powder of silk fibroin having a particle size of a specific value or less and capable of being well dispersed in a product.

CONSTITUTION: A process of grinding silk fibroin by a dry mechanical grinding means to obtain a coarse powder (about 100μm), a process of grinding the coarse powder of silk fibroin by a dry mechanical grinding means such as a ball mill to obtain a fine powder (about 20μm) and a process of grinding the fine powder of silk fibroin by a jet mill dry mechanical grinding means to obtain an ultrafine powder (about 10μm) are provided. In at least one process of the grinding processes, β transformation treatment is applied to the powder of silk fibroin by methanol.
