PURPOSE: To obtain UME (Japanese apricot) flesh granules having a high yield of material, purity free from admixture at all, high effects in terms of health, ready handleability and long-term shelf stability by crushing flesh of unripe UME by a mixer and specifically treating the ground flesh.
CONSTITUTION: First, unripe UME is separated into seeds and UME flesh, the UME flesh is ground by a mixer. Then the ground UME flesh is put in an enameled pot and boiled by a low fire while stirring with an agitating rod. The UME flesh is boiled until the agitating rod is slightly moved, the UME flesh is dried in the sun into a fairly dried state. Successively the dried UME flesh is formed into a bar state with 1cm diameter, cut into a fixed length so as to give a product having a size of adzuki bean and rounded. Finally the rounded UME flesh is further dried in the sun until the UME flesh becomes a dried state suitable for preservation.
