Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a random lap of uniform thickness by floating liberation, from a cylinder at fiber-debonding part, of fibers opened by an opener through high-speed revolution of the cylinder followed by bringing the opened fibers to a random state.

CONSTITUTION: Firstly, raw fibers are opened by the opening part of an opener 6 equipped with (1) a cylinder 3 revolving at high speed and (2) walkers 4 provided on part of the outer periphery of the cylinder. Thence, a concomitant airflow is generated, through the cylinder's revolution, between the cylinder and a cylinder casing T covering the outer peripheral surface of this cylinder 3 at a moderate interval to liberate the opened fibers from the cylinder. A secondary airflow is then generated between the cylinder casing 7 and an outside casing; and with this secondary airflow, the opened fibers liberated are transferred onto a conveyor where these fibers are randomly stacked.
