Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain unsymmetrical cell interspecies hybrid plant of the genus Brassica in high yield, by irradiating a protoplast derived from Brassica campestris with X-rays and fusing the protoplast with a protoplast derived from Brassica oleracea pretreated with an iodine compound and cultivating a prepared fused cell.

CONSTITUTION: A protoplast derived from Brassica campestris is irradiated with X-rays 15W90KR and fused with a protoplast derived from Brassica oleracea pretreated with an iodine compound. Then a prepared fused cell is cultivated to form a colony, from which a plant is regenerated. Iodoacetamide or monoiodoacetic acid are usable as the iodine compound. Chinese cabbage, Brassica Rapa var. pervidis or cole may be cited as the Brassica campestris and cabbage as the Brassica oleracea.
