Abstract:
To produce an emulsion of a vinyl acetate resin of a desired low degree of polymerization by producing PVA of a desired low degree of polymerization industrially and inexpensively.
In producing a vinyl acetate emulsion by emulsion-polymerizing a vinyl acetate monomer, 1-50 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. vinyl acetate monomer, polyvinyl alcohol whose degree of polymerization is lowered with an oxidizing agent is used as the polyvinyl alcohol added in the emulsion polymerization.
