Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for enabling the long-term continuous operation of a cooler of a decomposition gas in the thermal cracking of 1,2-dichloroethane to produce vinyl chloride.

CONSTITUTION: Decomposition gas obtained by the thermal cracking of 1,2- dichloroethane is indirectly cooled with a cooler composed of a single tube having an inner diameter of 150-250 mm and using the column bottom liquid of the distillation column of 1,2-dichloroethane as a cooling medium. The decomposition gas is cooled at an average cooling rate of 15-45°C/sec until the decomposition gas temperature at the outlet of the cooler reaches 250-350°C while passing the decomposition gas through the single tube of the cooler under a pressure of 0.9-1.4MPa. The 1,2-dichloroethane evaporated from the cooling medium in the cooler is refluxed to the distillation column.
