PURPOSE: To obtain a vinyl chloride resin which has an excellent value of volume specific resistance and is suitable for wire coating, by a method wherein a specified amount of a suspending agent and an auxiliary such as melamine are used in the suspension polymn. of vinyl chloride to prevent the lowering of pH.
CONSTITUTION: When vinyl chloride is polymerized in an aqueous suspension by suspension polymn., 600W200ppm of a suspending agent such as polyvinyl alcohol, methyl cellulose, or ethyl cellulose and 300W30ppm of a cpd. of the formula are added to vinyl chloride or a mixt. of vinyl chloride and another monomer copolymerizable therewith and then polymn. is carried out at a temp. of 50W60°C. After the completion of polymn., degasification under vacuum is carried out to reduce the amount of unreacted vinyl chloride in resin below 50ppm. Examples of cpd. of the formula are melamine, aminoguanidine, acetamidine, monoethanol amine, and aniline.
