Abstract:
PURPOSE: The reaction between an epoxy resin and an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid is carried out in the presence of an esterification catalyst of a specific phosphine compound to produce a vinyl ester resin used in anticorrosive varnish and photosensitive resists with increased reaction rate and no gelation.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An epoxy resin such as novolac type epoxy resin and (B) an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid such as methacrylic acid are added to (C) a phosphine of the formula (R1WR3 are alkyl, aryl) such as triphenyl phosphine in an amount of 0.1W2.0wt% based on A+B, as an esterification catalyst. Then, they are allowed to react, e.g., at 50W150°C to obtain the objective vinyl ester resin.
