PURPOSE: To stabilize a gelation time by separately preparing a reducing agent component and an oxidizing agent component of the catalyst in the production of a waterstop agent comprising a water-soluble, polymerizable monomer, a redox catalyst, an alkali hydraulic cement and water.
CONSTITUTION: A water-soluble, polymerizable monomer (A) (e.g., polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate), a redox catalyst (B), and an alkali hydraulic cement (C) are provided. Component (A), a reducing agent component (e.g., triethanolamine) of component (B) and component (C) are dissolved in an aq. medium (e.g., water), thereby obtaining a grout. Within 15min of the preparation of the grout, the grout is mixed with a soln. prepared by dissolving an oxidizing agent component (e.g., ammonium persulfate) of component (B) in water to obtain a waterstop agent. The obtd. waterstop agent exhibits a constant gelation time and can form a gel having a high mechanical strength.
