Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a welded pipe which does not generate roll marks and has beautiful appearance by making the pipe while inclining the pipe clockwise or counterclockwise on the plane formed by the revolving shafts of cage rolls and a line direction.
CONSTITUTION: A strip is fed into this apparatus and is bent at the edges of a piece stock by an edge bending roll 2. The side parts of the pipe stock are slightly bent by a first center bending roll 3. Boundary parts of the side parts and bottom parts of the pipe stock or the bottom parts are rolled down and restrained by second to fourth center bending rolls 4 to 6 and the edge parts or side parts of the pipe stock are applied with side pressures from both sides by the cage rolls 7, 7... adjustable in inclination in a counter clockwise direction on the plane formed by the revolving shafts and the line direction F, by which the pipe stock having an oval shape in section is formed. Next, the pipe stock is rolled down and formed by first and second fin pass rolls 8, 9, by which the edges and boundary parts of the pipe stock are bent and unbent to be approximated to a circular shape. The welding posture of the pipe stock is readjusted by rotary seam guide rolls 10 and the seam is heated and melted by a high-frequency welding machine 11. The seam is upset joined by squeezing rolls 12.
