Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a cosmetic giving tyrosinase-inhibitory activity higher than that for albutin, containing, as the main ingredient, a glycoside of (+)- catechin.
CONSTITUTION: The cosmetic containing, as the main ingredient, a glycoside of the formula (R is monosaccharide or disaccharide group) obtained by reaction of (A) a product formed by acetylating the 5, 7, 3' and 4' sites of (+)-catechin with (B) a saccharide formed by protecting the OH group of (+)-catechin with acetyl group along with brominating the 1-site thereof in the presence of silver perchlorate followed by deacetylation.
