Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing a wiping cloth having excellent absorbency of water, chemicals, etc., and high wet strength.
CONSTITUTION: A filament web having an areal density of 5-30g/m2 is prepared beforehand. The fineness of the filament constituting the web is 1.5-3 denier. Tissue paper sheets are laminated on both surfaces of the filament web and the obtained laminate is subjected to water-jet treatment from both tissue paper sides. The pulp fibers constituting the tissue paper are separated by the collision of the water-jet stream to the paper and the separated pulp fibers are entangled with the filaments of the web. The entanglement of the pulp fibers and the filaments proceeds until the filaments are interlaced with each other by the aid of the pulp fibers. The wiping cloth produced by the above process has excellent water-absorption of the pulp fiber and high tensile strength caused by the interlacing between the filaments and is suitable as a disposable towel, wet tissue, disposable scrubbing cloth, etc.
