Abstract:
To provide a method for producing in a high yield and purity zinc dithiophosphate free from offensive odor such as hydrogen sulfide odor and copper plate corrosiveness and excellent in storage stability and lubricity.
This method for producing zinc dithiophosphate comprises the following two processes: (1) a dithiophosphoric acid is prepared by reaction between (A) a Cn alcohol or phenol and (B) pentaphosphorus disulfide, and (2) the reaction between the dithiophosphoric acid and (C) zinc oxide is conducted; wherein the acid value (Av: mgKOH/g) of the dithiophosphoric acid to be used in the 2nd process is characterized by satisfying the relationship: 1,400≤Av(n+4.6) ≤2,000.
