Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a profile machining method and a machining device which secure excellent finish accuracy with all machined surfaces and restrain the shortening of the tool life as far as possible.
SOLUTION: In forming an annular groove 101 in a work, an end mill EM is moved along the outermost periphery of the annular groove 101 first and then is moved gradually inward, forming new grooves while it is moved along the respective annular grooves 101. At this time, when the outermost periphery is formed, the migration path of the end mill EM is chosen so that the cutting becomes a downcut with respect to the outermost peripheral surface. When the part inner than the above is formed, the migration path of the end mill EM is chosen in the reversed direction against the above, i.e., the cutting becomes a downcut with respect to the surface to be machined.
