PURPOSE: To easily recover from a fault when an unskilled person repeats the same error generated in the past by retrieving the method of a countermeasure in the past from a history data base at the time of similar fault generation and presenting it to the user when any fault is generated.

CONSTITUTION: An execution part 14 of a program generation supporting device 10 transmits the instruction/indication of a user 12 to a host computer 16 after the instruction/indication of the user 12 is stored in a history information storage part 18. Further, each message or signal showing the fault is caught from the system program of the host computer 16. Continuously, the execution part 14 investigates whether any message or signal in the same kind of the added system message or signal exists in a history data base 22 or not through a history retrieval part 26 after the system message or signal is added to the history information storage part 18. When there is the coincident information in the history data base 22, the user 12 instructs retrieval or corrected plan presentation using history information concerning the fault in the past by using the program generation supporting device 10.
