To provide a program guide for monitoring the advertising use condition in an interactive television program guide.
The time of an advertisement transmitted from a television distribution facility to a user television set is monitored to monitor the advertising use condition. The time of an advertisement received on the user television set is monitored to also monitor advertising use condition information. Even while advertisement is displayed by the program guide, the advertising use condition information may be monitored. Data which are not significant comparatively may be filtered from collected advertising use condition data. The other trend which may be monitored includes the viewing trend of the user, which program guide picture is displayed and which non-program guide application is used.
