To enable (1) an observer of a stereoscopic image to easily determine whether or not the current observation position is in a suitable view range and (2) the observer to easily determine whether or not the adjustment is optimum.
In generation of a stereoscopic image of an FV (fractional view) type, boundary lines 34 between lenses of a lens plate are projected onto a display surface of a pixel panel 20 from an estimated observation position to determined one of the lenses corresponding to each of pixels PE of the pixel panel. Ones of the pixels PE of the pixel panel which are intersected by the projected boundary lines are determined as unsuitable pixels not suitable for stereoscopic, and ones of the pixels PE which are not intersected by the boundary lines are determined as suitable pixels suitable for stereoscopic view. With respect to the suitable pixel, an object space, in which an object for stereoscopic view is positioned, is rendered to determined color information about the associated pixel. With respect to the unsuitable pixel, an object space, in which an unsuitable object is positioned, is rendered to determine color information about the associated pixel.
