To reduce lowering of the contrast due to a reflected light.SOLUTION: A projector 10 includes: projection control means 45 for controlling projection means 40 so that an image is selectively projected on a plurality of projection surfaces 100a, 101a, and 102a made of a light adjusting element 125 for switching a reflection state of reflecting a projected light and an absorption state of absorbing the projected light; and a projection surface control unit 36 for conducting a control so that the adjusting element 125 of the projection surfaces 100a, 101a, and 102a on which an image has not been projected by the projection image 40 is changed to the absorption state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
