To provide a projection lens having a system which is adaptable to a projection type display excellent in portability, has a wide angle so as to make an image size large even in close distance projection, has satisfactory projection performance, and ensures an extremely simple and inexpensive system, and to provide a projection type display device using the same.
The projection lens includes, in order from an enlarging side, a negative lens L1 the reducing side of which is a concave face, a positive lens L2 the reducing side of which is a convex face, a positive lens L3 the reducing side of which is a convex face, a negative lens L4, a positive lens L5 the reducing side of which is a convex face, and a positive lens L6 the enlarging side of which is a convex face. The projection lens satisfies conditional expressions (1) to (4): (1) 2.5<β/S<10.0; (2) 20<S/OBJ<140; (3) 60°<2ω; (4) FH<BH, wherein β represents an enlarging magnification, S represents the maximum length (inch) of an enlarging side image, OBJ represents an enlarging side projection distance (m), 2ω represents an enlarging side angle of view; FH represents the maximum effective luminous flux height of the highest enlarging side lens face; and BH represents the maximum effective luminous flux height of the highest reducing side lens face.
