Abstract:
To provide a projection type display device which can further effectively reduce speckles.
A beam expansion unit 20 expands laser beams emitted from laser sources 1R, 1G, and 1B into elliptical shapes. A beam radiation position displacing unit 4 translationally moves a mirror 41 by a driving unit 44 so as to sequentially move the elliptically expanded laser beams respectively in short axis directions of the elliptical shapes on a surface of an integrator 5a. Reflection type liquid crystal elements 14R, 14G, and 14B modulate the laser beams. A projection lens 17 projects the laser beams modulated by the reflection type liquid crystal elements 14R, 14G, and 14B.
